My journey began within UCLA’s TFT program (Theater, Film, & Television), creating movies and shooting headshots for all of the school’s actors, a side business while I attended classes. After graduating from UCLA, I moved to London for a year, traveled and explored photo journalism. Upon my return to Los Angeles, I crafted my own brand and started a photography business, capturing portraits and local events. That business has thrived for 15 years now, with destination weddings/events, becoming a regular booking. Due to the increase in travel again, I created a travel site/blog and became better acquainted with my videography and editing skills.

I am always looking to advance my skillset so in 2019, I enrolled in CSUN’s Mass Communications/ Journalism program in order to explore additional mediums and achieve a Masters degree. My thesis research involved Communications Infrastructure, Storytelling Networks, and I was able to explore the art of the podcast, creating a 36-minute podcast episode that I’m proud to say has recently placed as a finalist for this year’s Golden Mike Award. I have also since graduated from CSUN’s program.

That brings us to today, I am now a professor of Journalism at Moorpark College, teaching on many of the digital mediums that I offer up to my clients. I continue to embrace Communications Infrastructure and the community theories that thrive around it, often using it as a guide for my own students and their projects.

I’m still shooting with Jen Castle Photography but I now primarily work with small businesses, helping them map out their story, content strategy, and marketing. Primarily I document it for them but I also teach them how to do it for themselves on the day-to-day. It’s important that every brand/business find their story, who they are and what makes them tick.
